My phone won’t stop ringing from Medicare cold calls, what is going on?
It’s because the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is fast approaching!
The Medicare Annual Election Period (AEP) runs from October 15 to December 7 each year. This is the time where Medicare beneficiaries are allowed enroll, switch, or discontinue Medicare Advantage (Part C) and Medicare Part D prescription drug plans.
There is always an increase in advertising directed at Medicare eligible individuals during this time and it can become overwhelming. A good strategy to overcome this is to remain focused on the task at hand. Review your current coverage, ensure it still meets your needs and get help from a trusted, licensed agent, if you’re unsure.
Tip: Cold calling you about your Medicare coverage is illegal. So to make the calls stop, simply ask the caller what their Ohio insurance license number is. They will immediately hang up. Do this enough times, eventually the calls will stop.
Most agents can compare plans from multiple carriers and provide choices available in your area that are based on your needs or requirements. Find someone you trust. Talk to your friends that already have Medicare plans. Referrals are one of the best ways to find the right agent for you and one that will have your best interest at heart. Just remember that what is good for your neighbor, may not be the best plan for you.
