Do I have to use a certain pharmacy with my Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan?
Insurance companies have contracts with different pharmacies. Typically, the lowest prescription rates are tied to pharmacies that are “preferred” to a certain insurance plan or company. The next best rates may be found at pharmacies that are termed as “standard” with certain plans and companies.
Lastly, some pharmacies are not in network with certain plans/companies and obtaining medications from those pharmacies may come at a higher cost.
When setting up a meeting with your insurance agent, they may ask you to bring in a list of your current medications, including accurate dosage amounts. This allows us to help find options that have your preferred pharmacy in-network and provide coverage for your medications.
